Stamatis Vassiliadis was the S.A.R.C project coordinator (scientific and management).
He was also the chair professor of the Computer Engineering laboratory in the faculty of Electrical Engineering, Mathematics and Computer Science, TU Delft, the Netherlands..
Stamatis served in several U.S. Universities and worked for more than a decade with IBM in the Advanced Workstations and Systems laboratory, the Mid-Hudson Valley laboratory and the Glendale laboratory in NY. He has been involved in the design and implementation of many computer systems, and most of them use his inventions. For his work he received numerous awards including 24 Publication awards, 15 Invention Achievement Awards and an Outstanding Innovation Award for Engineering/Scientific Hardware Design in 1989. Six of his patents have been rated with the highest patent ranking in IBM and in 1990 he was awarded the highest number of patents in IBM.
The Sarc Community will miss Stamatis Vassiliadis' excellent insight in the problems and his vision for the future of computing.
